About "Sleeping Beauty" Camp
One of the classic playwrights of children's theatre dramatizes the most charming of fairy tales. This is a play of beautiful imagery telling the age-old story of the lovely princess who was cursed on the day of her christening by an uninvited wicked fairy. The fairy prophesied that on her 16th birthday the princess should prick her finger on a spindle and fall into a deep sleep. She will only be awakened one hundred years later by a prince who is brave enough to fight his way through the wilderness that grows up around the castle only to find that there is a twist in the story! Girl Power!
Parents, don't miss this opportunity for your young kid(s) to sing, dance and act themselves into a wonderful experience!

Since 2012 Pittsboro Youth Theater has built our reputation by staging full productions; every cast member takes the stage in full costume, with a full complement of props, professional set pieces, lighting, audio and more–we provide our young actors much more than T-shirts and a room.
In this scene from PYT's 2021 performance of "Frozen Jr." Anna, played by Cate Hall, sings with the snow chorus outside her sister, Elsa's, ice castle.
"As soon as this play ended, I shouted, “That was great!” Because it was! I thought the set was great and very pretty. I could almost imagine it was a real castle. I also love that the costumes looked a lot like the clothes from the movie."
Emory Kasten (he/him), 8-year old Staff Writer

Children and families come together at Pittsboro Youth Theater to sing, dance and act. Enjoying this trifecta of performing arts in a vibrant arts space, PYT patrons experience community through performing arts group activities.
Especially during this pivotal time after COVID and when social media increasingly seduces people to socialize while isolated, team performing arts programs and live events are an invaluable key to our community's mental and interpersonal health.
